The 2027 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders opens for applications on September 22, 2026. Choose from one of three tracks: 💼 Business and Trade 💻 Emerging Technologies 🏛️ Governance and Security A valuable opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills, expand your professional network and connect with fellow young African leaders. 💰 Fully funded opportunity The Mandela Washington Fellowship includes an intensive six-week Leadership Institute at a U.S. college or university. Fellows participate in academic and practical activities while sharing experiences and perspectives with their peers and U.S. communities. Depending on the Fellowship cycle and participant selection, program activities can include: Leadership and professional development Academic and practical learning Networking with other African leaders Engagement with U.S. businesses, organizations, and professionals Community and cultural activities Opportunities to exchange ideas and experiences across sectors Continued engagement through the Fellowship's alumni network The broader Fellowship also includes professional and reciprocal exchange opportunities designed to strengthen relationships between African and U.S. participants.

Critères d'éligibilité
You must be a citizen and resident of a Sub-Saharan African country. All 49 Sub-Saharan African countries qualify. Nationals of North African countries (Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya) are not eligible. You must be between 25 and 35 years old at the time of application. The lower limit is firm. The upper limit is firm. No exceptions. You must be fluent in English, both spoken and written. You must not be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. You must not have previously participated in the Mandela Washington Fellowship. You must have a record of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive impact in business, civic engagement, or public management. traduit en francais
